Public Service Announcement

Abbott's closes for the season October 26!

Pig

I had Abbott's ice cream yesterday, even though, well, frankly, I didn't need it.

And that's all I'm saying...

Cabbage Soup or Atkins?

Maybe we should turn this blog into a diet blog over the winter? We could be like Lena:

I've been a bad TLIC member...

I have not blogged 2 ice cream experiences! I had a hot fudge sundae and a pumkin shake. I plan on eating either a klondike bar tonight or some sort of ice cream thing that my neighbor gave me. She can't eat it because it has seeds in it (strawberry) so I threw them in the freezer! Yum! I tried the dress on that I have to wear to a wedding (I am a bridesmaid) and I really could loose 10-15 lbs to look fab in it. Wish me luck. I will have to start tomorrow! lol

Gay ice cream!!

So tonight, our GLBT group on campus had an ice cream social in the campus union. It was very cool... I got my roommate to come with me, and there were about 20-30 people there. There was ice cream and karaoke -- the makings of a great party. We all had vanilla with hot fudge and, of course, rainbow sprinkles.
:-)
It's up to youse.

So, I'm going to Canada for two weeks. So I don't think I'll get much computer or ice cream time. So, I hope you'll all continue posting about your ice cream moments, no matter how insignificant they may seem.

This Afternoon...

Me. Kelly. Abbott's. Yum.

No ice cream in this post...

We need a 30/99 blog. As in, a blog in which we blog our crazy public restroom experiences. I got the idea last night at Roxy's when I was in a stall where the door had no lock and I had to do a gymnast-like move to keep it closed while I went potty.

Just an idea.

Coupons

So glad to say that I am feeling better. I really want a t-shirt that says, "I survived the West Nile." I think I need a freaking support group.

On a more sarcastic note...

So I had this coupon. It said $3 off oil change at jiffy lube on an oil change. This is one of those places that you drive up and 5 guys come out of nowhere and go down the stairs underneath your car and are done in 5 minutes. So the guy comes over and says Ms. Constantino? I say yes? (I am the only one in the waiting room- because they've all found out what I am soon to discover) He shows me my air filter, (inner dialogue-- 'why the hell is this guy showing me this-- oh yes he's trying to rip me off) which looks just fine to me, I just bought the damn car! There are 41,000 mi on the damn thing and he's trying to change my air filter? Come on! So, I say, no that won't be necessary today-- mind you the guy that did the intake has already told me that every 30,000 mi I am supposed to change the transmission fluid. OK, so they are done in about 3.5 seconds and I go to the cash register to pay. He goes over the details of all the fabulous things they checked in the ridiculously short amount of time they spent with the car and then proceeds to tell me that it's $34.00! I am stuttering, scrambling for the coupon, with my mouth agape. But, but I have a coupon I pathetically stutter. OK, $31.00 is your total! I walk away in a stupor, dazed, my ego seriously hurt. I really thought they charged like $19.95. I was all ready with my $16, but alas, everything is 3x as much in Boulder.
I proceed to the gas station to see my Tibetan friend Shushil who always sells me lucky lottery tickets and skip the lotto today (I feel like I shouldn't press my luck) and buy the obligatory ice cream sandwich (for $3, but they are my favorite and I know that I am going to pay $3) for some solace. *slaps forehead in frustration* Yikes!
The Dog Days of Summer

So, last weekend we had this girls’ weekend at our friend Dee’s cottage. And it always involves lots of booze, and we read our tarot cards for the year, and we just generally bond more than one would think possible. But when the weekend is over, our final ritual is to go to Tom Wahl’s for burgers, because those girls don’t get Tom Wahl’s in Buffalo, and they love it. So after our burgers, we said, YO! Ice Cream! Yay!

So we ate. Even the dogs got in on the act.

Luca says “Yummy!”

Ethan likes ice cream, too.

This is why I like ice cream!
Char, Katie, Dee in the back.

So, down the road from Tom Wahl’s right there in the town of Avon is this other ice cream stand, and I HAD to take a picture of its perverted marquee, because it’s so, well, perfect for this blog!

Now is it just me, or is that girl totally humping that phallic cone? What marketing genius said, "Let's paint a picture of a small female child, and then have her straddle this humongous cone with a pink mushroom tip"?

I've been a bad girl!

My roommate and I were both PMS-ing so we decided to go to Wegmans and get some ice cream. Ben & Jerry's was two for six dollars... she got peanut butter chocolate and I got One Sweet Whirld - cookie dough and brownie swirled together. Ooh I was sooo bad... I ate half a carton in one sitting!! :-P

Weekends Are Bad for Diets!

Well, the "diet" from ice cream went out the window this weekend! I had a cappucino tartuffo at Trattatoria D'Abbruzzia (??) on E. Ridge Road in Irondequoit (in the same plaza as the Pizza Hut across from the I'ron Mall). It's basically a cappucino-flavoured ice cream with a fudge center with crushed hazelnuts on top. To die for! They have a chocolate version of it as well. That was Saturday. On Sunday, after dinner my mom whips out Eddy's mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. Much happiness in the mouth! And of course I had to break into my Indescretion Midnight Rendevous last night while watching "Serendipity" (again). At least I walked yesterday for exercise. I need to find a diet that doesn't restrict ice cream intake.

News and Updates

Number 1

Okay, so I was outta town all week in the studio, but I’m finally here to recount our lovely and spontaneous social with Pinky!

She was passing through town and called me last Sunday morning and said “I’ll be there in 2 hours!” So I called Cheryl and Mary Rose (Maria was outta town) in haste and we made plans to meet Pinky right off the Thruway. So we picked Abbott’s on Jefferson Rd. We all met up around 12:30 and gave introductions and hugs all around. We also met Pinky’s cutie beau, John, who graciously indulged all of our girly-girl, well, girlness.

Cheryl also brought the adorable Heidi who filled in for Maria smashingly, being that she got Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles! And we were all chatting and Pinky has this really cool book of photos and comments from all the trips she’s taken, and she had one from Buffalo last year when I opened for Don McLean. And I made a casual mention of what a “FUCKING ASSHOLE” Don McLean was, completely forgetting that little Heidi was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Not used to kids, what can I say, but I was horrified and I looked at Heidi and her eyes were really big and her jaw dropped and I just kept apologizing to her and her mom. Can’t take me anywhere.

Anywho, it was awesome that Pinky was able to stop and meet everyone, and Cheryl took nice photos, which you can see
here. There’s a great shot of Mary Rose spilling ice cream all down her shirt. But the six-year-old didn’t spill a drop!

Pinky also sent me this photo of all of us:

Number 2-VERY IMPORTANT

Everyone please send a get-well e-mail to Colorado member Lisa who, believe it or not (I am NOT making this up) has West Nile Virus. Don’t post get-well’s here, because on top of recuperating she just started school and doesn’t have much blog time. Send e-mails here.

Here’s a social we could crash!

So Goes the Ice Cream

I found a new line of ice cream that has proven quite delectable and has an amusing sales pitch. Indescretion. The flavours are different from the usual Ben & Jerry's and Eddy's (if you can call that "usual"!). I tried Spellbound and Midnight Rendevous the other night in a fit of PMS. It was the kind of fit that called for ice cream and bologna, but not at the same time. It's that sweet and salty thing. Anyway, it's on sale 2 for $6 at Wegman's this week (in Jamestown at least). A bit pricey but soooo worth it. That's my happy ice cream news.

Now the bad news. I might not be posting ice cream experiences as much on TLIC. After my mom measured me for my wedding dress this weekend, we discovered I went up a dress size since May (when she measured me for a bridesmaid dress). This obviously means that I need to cut back and get into some exercise plan that slims me down a little. I'll still post in comments and if I hear of social I can make it to, then of course all diets are off! In the meantime, I suppose my ICF will turn into an ICDF (Ice Cream Deficiency Factor)!

Sooooo much ice cream!!

So I went to Friendly's tonight with my roommate and a few friends, and we all got sundaes/milkshakes. THEN we came back to the dorm and found out that we had a floor meeting, at which we were given... free ice cream!! Woohoo!!!
