Hi Goils

Instead of emailing the pics from today's impromptu social, I made a little web page out of them. You all can check them out HERE.

I'm sure our mistress of the tongue will make an official statement soon :-)

PUMPKIN SHAKES! My first of the season, today I stopped at the evil Darilicious and got a pumpkin shake. They are to die for. Besides pistachio ice cream, these are DIVINE! Yesterday, Petie helped me eat a Big Wheel which is a HUGE ice cream sandwich. When I got home today I brought over one of them to the neighbor who has many ailments and is struggling, trying to get off of an addiction to morophine which her doctor got her on. She loved the ice cream. She said, if you are going to NY, you don't need the rest of the ice cream sandwiches in the freezer do you? Just like a little kid. So I ran home and got her the remaining wheel.

Although I am headed to New York, I am afraid I probably won't be able to get together for an ice cream with 'yall but I shall try to find time to get some pistachio if I can, to try to lighten the mood. A dear friends father passed away and my time will be spent mainly with her.

Double Entry!

Well, here we are, with another edition of ice cream social events. Today, however, there are two ice cream events to tell you of:

The Blackout Ice Cream Social

As some of you know, I was on my way to NYC the day the blackout hit. I stopped in New Paltz to stay with a friend overnight, before I had to be in NYC the following day. But there were no lights, so we hung around and lit candles and were entertained by my friend’s daughter, Mia. Later, though, we’d decided to make the most of this adventure by hitting the town’s center and seeing what was up. So we did, and what do we stumble upon? An oasis in the desert!

It was either this or dump it all in the garbage

So the four of us each got some ice cream treats, and the whole bill came out to six bucks. Such a deal!

Diane, Melinda, Mia, Leah

So there ya go! There’s always a silver cloud to each of life’s little inconveniences.

The Great Buffalo Ice Cream Social

As this was an official TLIC event, let us record the minutes properly:

Date: 8/22/03
Location: Sweet Tooth, Buffalo, NY
Present: Members Mary Rose, Maria, Cheryl, Julia, Leah. Non-members Alan, Matt, The Pugliese Family, Sonya
Agenda: Celebrate Mary Rose’s 25th birthday, eat ice cream, be depraved.

It was one of those moments when all the planets align just right, and everyone’s schedule coincides! We made the plans to celebrate Mary Rose’s big day in Buffalo, as it was the perfect central location for us all to meet! Julia and Matt came from Jamestown, the rest of the members came from Rochester, and we met up with Alan, a regular reader and commenter who lives in Buffalo. We all met up at Sweet Tooth around 7:30 and made our formal introductions, as most of us had not yet actually met Julia and her betrothed, Matt.

Upon our arrival, we Rochesterians decided we were FAMISHED and dashed quickly into Louie’s for some dogs and sweet potato fries:

After wolfing down our chow, we returned to the business at hand. Now Sweet Tooth is not just an ice cream parlor. They also have the most decadent pastries and cakes and such, as well as designer candies. And when the gang was inside looking at all the delicacies, a true crisis of conscience set in. It was a dilemma, a quandary, when many of us eyed the cheesecake and mousse torts and secretly wished for those instead of ice cream. I could see their internal struggle:

Sensing their angst, your benevolent dictator announced “Uh….ya know you don’t HAVE to eat ice cream!” All breathed a collective sigh of relief and headed for the cheesecake. I suggested that we could all get a piece of cake and have them slap on a scoop of ice cream. It was, after all, a birthday par-tay! Woo hoo!

So after much decision-making and waiting in line, we headed outside to enjoy our calories. Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo is the coolest place I’ve ever seen: Many neat shops and freaks of all kinds: we misfits actually fit. There are people of every kind in that neighborhood, so we people-watched and chatted, and the straight boys (Alan and Matt, in case you were wondering) were bonding. It was also the Buffalo Bike Blast weekend, so every 2.5 minutes a gang of Harley’s would rumble down the road. Much fun. When we all had assembled on the sidewalk with our goodies, we made a little sign and raised our deserts in honor of Indiana member, Pinky, whose birthday was Wednesday. Here’s our salute to you:

The sign says "Happy Birthday, Nina!"

A little while later my Buffalo family showed up!

Michelle, Marty and Dee, Jake in front.

Then Maria’s friend Sonya made an appearance! It was a big TLIC hootenanny and there was much rejoicing! (Yaaay…) By far this has been our largest social. So everyone was eating and chatting and bonding and gossiping and what-not, when tragedy struck!!! Oh, what a world! What’s the worst that could happen at an ice cream social? Read on at your own risk: discretion is advised.

Sonya’s scoop of ice cream fell right off the cone onto the ground.

[And when Maria gets off her butt, she has a photo of this gruesome sight, which I will post when she sends it to me (hint hint).]

But I must say she and the rest of us handled this tragedy with panache. Nobody screamed…uh...well, actually, I did, but everyone else held it together. Nonetheless, we all moved on. In fact, we got over it quickly enough to head right onto the next item on the agenda, the porn store du jour!

Today’s pick was the Village Books and News in Kenmore, NY. Such an innocuous, respectable name, isn’t it? And it was a first for us to have boys with us. And I’m sure a first for them to go into a porn store with a gang of girls, half of us lesbians.

Point of information: The Pugliese Family did not accompany us, as bringing their young children into such a place would probably not be considered good parenting. And Sonya didn’t come, because she had to go to work.

So on we went. And lucky us, it was 20% off for the ladies!! I’m amazed at how many adult stores offer discounts for women to draw us in. Like women normally would want to go to a place where perverted men are whacking off in the back. Yeah, such a safe environment for a woman. Anyhoo, we wandered about and made our usual silly comments. Alan is our new porn guru, as he not only knows about every store within Erie County, but also regaled us with his extensive knowledge of disgusting sex terminology. We love him. We must have spent a good hour in there, but finally made our purchases and left. As is customary, we never reveal who bought what. Torture me with nipple clamps if you want, I’ll never tell.

Outside of the store I made the announcement that I thought Alan should be honored with a TLIC membership and be crowned our T.P. (token penis). And while I didn’t make a formal motion, Cheryl seconded it. And while I didn’t formally call for acclamation, I heard no objections and unilaterally passed the un-motion. I have since formally sent Alan an invitation to become our 10th member.

And then we all had to say goodbye. Boo hoo. But before I officially end this transmission, lookie at the cool little clay sculpie that Maria made for Mary Rose:

It’s a little lion version of Mary Rose, a Leo, who likes to fish. I don’t know if you can see it, but the lion has a little strand of hair hanging down, just like Mary Rose’s!

And finally, I was told I HAD to post this photo, in honor of our missing Jessica, who headed off to college this weekend and could not join us. Let me say in my defense I had been up since 5:00 in the morning.

Usually Jessica falls asleep on the way home, but since she wasn’t here, I performed her duties admirably.

So there you have it!!! We had a fabulous time, and it was fun to meet Julia and Matt and to have the Buffalo gang join us, too. Until next time, ‘scream on!

Missing In Action

Yo, goils! Back in action after this past week of travel and mayhem. So to catch up, please everyone wish PINKY a happy belated birthday!!! Her birthday was Wednesday, and since she's taunted all of you to guess how old she is, go to her awesome website. Click on the "birthday" icon and go see the cool banner her pals made for her at work. Also, while you're there, do check out her fantastic artwork. Pinky is doing the artwork for "Pretty On Thursday".

Also, Mary Rose's birthday was yesterday, as you all know, since we're going to Buffalo to celebrate tonight. We'll raise a cone in Pinky's honor, too. We're all leaving Rochester around 6, and should get to Sweet Tooth by 7:30. Sweet Tooth is located on Elmwood Ave. at Hodge St. Something like 474 Elmwood Ave. Out-of-towners can make their usual calls to the cell phone of their choice.

I guess that's about all there is, right?

Buffalo Social
Leah is out of town with a dying cell battery, so she asked me to blog :-)

Everyone who is riding in the Ice Cream Mobile, should be at my house by 6pm tomorrow. If anyone wants to hang out and show up earlier...that's cool with me :-)

If you need directions, email me
Never get too old for Ice Cream...

OK, so everyone should go have an ice cream for my birthday...even though it was yesterday because I didn't get to have any. I think that I will hit B&J's this weekend in Lafayette...they have pistachio...Can anyone guess how old I am?

Ice Cream at Celebrate Erie

Even though it was raining and getting that damp, chilly feeling outside, I insisted on having a cone of Oreo ice cream from the Bruster's Ice Cream stand at Celebrate Erie. Heaven!!! Oh, I can't even begin to explain how wonderful it was to be able to eat quality ice cream from a vendor. Most places around Chautauqua County sell only Perry's. You have to drive to Fredonia to get Aldrich's homemade ice cream, and that's out of the way since there's nothing else to really do in Fredonia other than drink and eat.

My dessert after dinner at Papermoon (see my regular blog for link) was mango sorbet. Now, I know this isn't regular ice cream, but the flavour of the frozen mango was something to savour. I would compare it to a certain act of love in a non-"traditional" sense, if you catch my meaning *winkwink*

More Blackouts!!

Goils, Goils! I was in New Paltz the night of the outage, and by the time 9:00 rolled around, the town ice cream joint was selling it's ice cream at HALF PRICE!! So we all went down and glommed up some creamy goodness. I have pictures and everything, so I'll tell the complete story when I'm back.

I moved my blog to my server. In case any of you look at it occassionally, it's HERE now.

This is a test...

Of an idiot...trying to make a bold header...
Petie and Me shared a Klondike Bar...(Petie is my cat)

Sunday, August 10, 2003

Well, I did have ice cream but forgot to post. I finally broke down and had an ice cream sandwhich while at work on Thursday. Then on Saturday, my bo brought over a polar bar. Today...after seeing a rendition of Oliver at the community theater (very cute) we went to the van (Johns moms van) and it wouldn't start. Silly me, decided to dress up (which I never do) and had on uncomfortable shoes and we had to walk a good distance. So I say lets walk half way to the Evil Darilicious and then John can go the rest of the way and go get his car! lol I had the typical banana, chocolate, pecan boston, while John got a chocolate shake and his mom got a large strawberry cone with a cherry on top! I am not going there again (until they have pumpkin shakes) cuz my stomach did not appreciate it very much...I think that they know I have it out for them and they are messing with my ice cream....
What, nobody's had ice cream for a week?

Okay, so looks like just about EVERYONE is coming to the Buffalo ice cream social for Mary Rose's 25th birthday! Woo hoo! Cheryl, Maria, me, Mary Rose... Julia is coming from Jamestown with her beau Matt (and we are gonna check him out so hard!), and my friend Shawn from Roch/Buff is coming, too, I think with her sweetie. And we're going to meet up with Alan and Ellen! We should go to Sweet Tooth, because it's the best section of town. And then we can decide what porn store to go to later. May I just say ALAN knows ALOT of them out there, ahem ahem...

I'll give you all the details when I work it out, but it seems that everyone can leave Rochester by 6:00 - we can arrive by 7:30. Cheryl has offered us to carpool in the mom-mobile - it can hold six. We should all just probably meet her at her house if that's okay with her. We'll work all that out... but mark your calendars and prepare for fun! Somebody bring a digital camera, okay?

As always, we'll have cell phones on for the out-of-towners who'd like to call in their ice cream socialness. WOO HOO!

You know, between this Blog and my Boyfriend, my waistline will never be the same. One large bowl of the remaining Edy's with like 1 CUP of hot fudge! Oh my gosh and yes pecans. I don't even like ice cream all that much (except for pistachio)!!!!! What's happening to me?????? Help! Help Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PMS.
..and lead us not into temptation...

Today I drove every single possible way around Canandaigua serving papers. I'm talking about 4 hours of driving here. And then I passed the Abbotts on 5 & 20. But it was in the middle of construction and on the other side of the street, and I was gonna do it but I didn't, because I was thinking I'll NEVER be skinny again if I keep eating ice cream. So I passed it and was proud. Then I passed Scoops. Twice. I almost stopped but didn't. Then, damn, had to pass that Abbott's again, but still perservered. On my last time around, I passed that goddman abbott's once more, and it was on MY side of the street. And I buckled. I'm a weak woman.

I don't know how The Lord ever dealt with the temptation he did and not succumb. Perhaps that's why he The Lord.

And it was chocolate almond, of course.

it was an ICE CREAM-Y weekend

my mother in law is just as big an ice cream freak as anyone here ( though i don't think her ICF is very high. she and daddy frighten me. heh. let's not go there...) so she invited the girls and i (and her crabby ass SON if he wasn't in a bitchy mood) to come down to the house and have ice cream. the girls and i were ALL OVER that idea, but the crab ass stayed home. turns out that two of my sisters in law (Jenny and Jessa) and my brother in law (wayne, married to jenny) and their little boys were over for ice cream too. so the kids take off to play while the rest of us are licking our bowls (not licking the bowl clean is ice cream sacrelidge in THAT house) and my sisters in law start talking about some sex show on cable. i dunno the name of the show though, cause my choice was internet access or cable TV. apparently i have my priorities straight dammit.

so my married sister in law starts talking about this guy who called in and wanted to know why everytime he ejaculated he crapped his pants... i never laughed so hard... especially after seeing the look on my mom's face. we usually have to explain this stuff to her. so imagine my surprise when she says, "well maybe they should just have sex on the toilet?"

jenny and jessica wound up WEARING my last mouthful of ice cream.

heh. and then last night i made up for it by eating too many bowls (THREE) of "milky way" candy bar ice cream. nothing like a sugar coma people. plus my ass will eventually be the size of dallas.

Our Next Social?

Hey! Mary Rose's birthday is August 21 and I happen to be in town...so...let's plan! Maybe on Friday night, the 22nd, we can all take a road trip to Buffalo? Mayhaps Julia can meet us up there, and Jessica will probably already be there, and Alan too! Oh, and even Frog, who comments once in awhile on this blog. We'd have to leave early enough, too, like 6-7 ish, or not. Whatever! Whaddya all think?

How SAD am I?

In a fit of depression, I made a special trip to Wegmans tonight. I bought some Breyers Vanilla Fudge, some hot fudge sauce, and some whipped cream.

I'm gonna got take a hot shower, make me some coooold ice cream, and then aimlessly surf the net awhile.

A Sunday night at it's finest...LOL
The Denny's Version of a Sundae

Matt, our friend, Richard; and I ended up at the Fredonia Denny's last night for dessert. I ordered the Oreo Sundae, Matt got the Oreo Blaster Shake, and Richard got a chocolate milkshake. The sundae wasn't bad since Denny's is now using "real" whipped cream (AKA not that cool whip crap) and hot fudge. The oreo chunks were plenty and the hot fudge wasn't just drizzled on top, it coated the entire inside of the dish. Much happiness! I also got to see Vicky, who I met via RDykes and hadn't seen in about two years. Poor girl seemed a bit overworked (was cooking a double shift at Denny's). But we all had ice cream with no negative effects! Huzzah to that!

I'm Baaaaaack

So I guess I should blog about my ice cream habits for the past week. Yes, I have gained weight in the past week or so. This bitch can eat. Let's see, one night we went to this place called The Lil Caboose. Apparently, per my mom, the joint was shaped like a caboose, but, fuck if I noticed. It was dark and I wanted ice cream. One track mind I tell you. I had some vanilla ice cream with caramel swirls in it (it had a cutesy name but I can't f'ing remember it) in a sugar cone, my mom had moose tracks or something, Poo had peppermint stick and Aunt Pat had a hot fudge sundae. Aunt Pat ALWAYS has a fucking hot fudge sundae. My sister is a bit lactose intolerant (I know! How SAD!!) so she skipped out on ice cream that night. We also had ice cream in P-Town at some Fudge Factory (I dissed B&J's because I can get that at home). Poo and I had coffee ice cream in a fudge-dipped sugar cone, and my sister and mom had that moose tracks crap again in a fudge-covered sugar cone and Aunt Pat had a hot fucking fudge sundae. The last time we had ice cream was at Blondies. I had vanilla soft serve in a sugar cone, my sister had rocky road, Poo had peppermint stick again, my mom had mint chocolate chip and Aunt Pat had... you guessed it... a hot fudge fucking sundae. Blondies was cool because there were these giant ice cream cones flanking the steps up to the joint. They were taller than me (I know that isn't saying much). I had my sister take my picture with one. I thought I would be all cool and pretend to be licking it, and actually fucking touched it with my tongue by accident. That was NASTY! Not like I actually tasted anything or like full-out licked it but still... I am not germ-friendly. Yuck.

Anyhow, this is off topic but can I just say that so many girls got the pretty waitress tip? We had several very cute Irish waitresses. I don't even like blondes as a rule but these were definitely exceptions. I should have taken pictures. Oh well. Speaking of girls, I have my personal ad up. I mention this because my picture with the giant ice cream cone is there so you could see it. And of course you could tell me if my ad sucks. I know it's sketchy to put an ad up but these are desperate times, my friends.

Since I've come back I went to Abbotts with Mary on Wednesday and had a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles (she had chocolate) and I also ate some Friendly's (from Top's in a box) White Chocolate Raspberry last night. Jesus, I need to get laid.

In spite of all this ice cream consumption, I would still like to try Java's for ice cream sometime. What's everyone's schedules like in the next couple of weeks? After it stops raining that is. Anyone want to go? We can pretend it's for my birthday. :)

Time to...er...sleep. Yeah.
Edy's Ice Cream 1.75 Qts, French Vanilla, Smuckers Microwavable Hot Fudge, 1/8 C. of Pecans...Ice Cream slightly soft. Need I say more?
