Have a scoop for me!

Hey folks. I'm not sure I'm going to make this social or my gig tomorrow. I have a fever and flu-ish symptoms. Not a good plan to go sing to old people with the flu. Take pictures for the blog, okay?

Buffalo Social, Part II

I've called around. Here are a few ideas:

Antoinettes Sweet Shop
5981 Transit Rd.
Depew

This is right near exit 49 off the Thruway. Easy on, easy off. I've never been here, but I've heard good things.

Alethea's Chocolate and Ice Cream Shoppe
8301 Main St.
Williamsville
Map

I haven't been here in years, and it's quite the place. They serve Perry's, but Perry's make it special for them with extra butter fat. Very yummy, and an amazing store with all kinds of chocolate candies, too. Also easy access to the Thruway.

Condrells Ice Cream Parlor
2805 Delaware Ave.
Kenmore

I used to go here all the time for a decadent chocolate sundae. They're in the city, and maybe a bit too small for us. Not as close to Thruway exits, and I'm not sure there's any decent parking.

Personally, I think I'd like to go the Alethea's. What about youse all? I'd like to stay on the East side of the county, since many of us are coming from Rochester. How does that all sound????

Ice Cream In Buffalo

Okay, so here's the deal:

Sunday, Nov 28 at 4:00 we're having a social in Buffalo. Nina will be in town, Maria's new girlie will be in town, I have a gig in Buffalo that day, so there ya go, everyone is going to Buffalo. Question is, where to go? Some of the Anderson's are not too pretty, but the one on Transit Rd. is. There's always Friendly's. Antionette's is too far west. Sweet Tooth is closed. Anyone care where we go? I can't remember where the Friendly's are - I'll have to look them up. But I do know they now have a low-carb sundae!

Friday, November 12, 2004

Hey Everyone!
I am going to be in the Buffalo area for T-day. I was wondering if we can set up a social? How about a nice seasonal ice cream social, pumpkin shakes galore, in Buffalo (somewhere? Help?) on the 28th, in the afternoon??????? I need a place to meet from the locals since I have no idea where to go. It may have to be a Friendly's or something of that nature since I am sure the ice cream stands will be closed....(boo hoo)

Ah yes, today after a hard day full of panning for gold and a nice country dinner I finally had some pistachio ice cream in a waffle cone. MMMMM! Yes I said panning for gold! Out in Brown County Indiana, I walked a creek bed and did the real deal. (not alone may I add, a true panner as a guide and my beau took the trek) We found about 5 SPECKS of gold. But it really was GOLD! Ah it was worth it if only for the ice cream...

Alright, you Ice Cream Slackers

Clearly I can see that if I don't take the initiative, nothing happens. Well, I've been a little BUSY this summer, tour tour touring. And now summer is over. So, should we at least TRY to have a social somewhere, with or without coffee?

Where? When?

Sweet, Sweet Shake of Pleasure

I did the unthinkable...I went to the EVIL Darilicious and bought ... a ... PUMPKIN SHAKE! Ohhhhhhh Yeah......

Catch up...

Yesterday, Maria and I went to see Resident Evil 2, and while we were there, thought it best to have some Bruster's Ice Cream. I had a turtle cone, with big huge, whole pecans in it. Not very South Beach, ya know. Maria had Caramel Apple Vanilla. So yummy.

AND, last week I was driving through Spencerport, and there it was, an Abbott's franchise on Union Rd., and it was a hot day, and nobody was there, so that's all I needed. My fave Choc. Almond.

And the week before THAT, Kelly and I took a motorcycle ride down to Canandaigua, and stopped at this little ice cream stand on Lakeshore Dr. there, forgot what it was called. But we got our cones, walked across the street, and sat lakeside on a bench and watched the boats and water and birds. It was soooo purty!

Ice cream disaster.

I was at the dining hall last night with my friend, Brittany. We decided that ice cream would be a great way to top off our dinner. We went over to the soft-serve machine, only to find the handles broken off. Amidst our complaining, a boy came over and decided to put the handles back on. I wasn't sure if this was the best idea, but I wanted ice cream. He snapped one back on, pulled it down, and...... well, the handles were broken off for a reason. Melted chocolate ice cream spilled out all over the machine, the floor, and our shoes.

Yummy.

We Just Need To Create An Ice Cream Tour..

I wonder how much money we could garner if we created an Ice Cream Stand Bus Tour. Got to thinking about that after I saw another future destination for the TLIC group.
Kimball Farm Ice Cream is somewhat legendary in the New England area. While not as well known as its neighbor to the north, the ice cream still sounds like a fantastic, homemade treat. At least that's what the Boston Globe says in this article.

Leos Galore

Official TLIC birthday wishes go out to Pinky (Aug 20) and Mary Rose (Aug 21). Wishes also go to non-member, but TLIC's favorite singer, Mary Simon, who turns 30 today! These girls may be on or near the cusp of Virgo, but believe me, they all got the Leo thing working for them.

Happy Birthday! When the weather warms up and stops raining, oh say July of 2007, we'll have a social to celebrate!

Had my own Birthday Bash!
Friday at Buca di Beppos! Tons of garlic and fun followed up with CHOCOLATE CANNOLI -Three filled cannoli shells on a sea of chocolate Sambuca sauce with candied pistachios and powdered sugar AND SPUMONI!- Layered rum vanilla, pistachio, strawberry and chocolate ice cream. You are only allowed a picture of the remains of the day...

Posting by Proxy

Okay, Maria is right here telling me this hideously scary story about her experience at Friendly's last night.

She, Jessica and their friend Lynne went to Friendly's in Pittsford, and Maria said it was horrible! They ran out of chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks, and even the waitress was dissing her store, saying she wouldn't blame the the girls for leaving. Then she said their store runs out of stuff all the time, including hot fudge and hot chocolate, then she started dissing other stores, saying the Webster Friendly's was dirty. On top of THAT, apparently it was closing night of Seussical the Musical, and every snot-nosed child in Whoville was there, running rampant around apathetic, burned-out parents.

But the waitress still got the "hot chick" tip.

Wednesday, August 11, 2004

Ok, Ok, forgive me! for I have sinned. I haven't posted every ice cream experience I have had this summer but tonight, I had a heavenly treat. Forget the pinwheels which I have had my share of in the past months, forget the moose track ice cream cones that are in my freezer as I type but tonight, my treat was vanilla ice cream, carmel, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and Frangelico! Oh my gosh! Something you MUST try!
Public Service Announcement

I'm sitting here eating a small cup of Abbott's non-fat, sugar-free chocolate ice cream, and it is very delicious, whowouldathunk?

Yesterday I was driving along Ridge Rd. E. and I saw this place called "Ice Cream World"! So, as a duty to you all I checked it out. And I'm thinking it ain't no big thang, then I saw something familiar: those round ice cream sandwiches that I think we used to call Pinwheels when we were little. So I asked the girl scooping up some strawberry swirl "Did this used to be Carvel's?" And she said yes. So don't get all excited, 'cause Carvel's never was anything special.

Also checked out the place in Eastview Mall that's supposed to be similar to the Cold Stone Creamery. While it is similar in it's basic idea, it pales in comparison; it's very small and has no where near the options as CSC. But Kelly had a vanilla cone and I will say the ice cream was quite delicious. If anyone ever goes there and cares to make a report, you know where to do it.

I still think we need to make a road trip to Syracuse for the real thing.

Spontaneous Ice Cream

So I'm all bored and I call Maria because it's her day off, and I'm all "bitch, les go git some ice cream" and she's all, "bitch, I'm working 'cause I took the weekend off but I'll be off soon!" So I says well, meet me at wherever, and she's all well I'm supposed to hang with Jessica and Mary Rose, so we'll all come and shit!

So we all met at Bruster's, and who knew Amanda was in town on a Monday but she was there too. Then Kelly, who lives literally around the damn block from Bruster's showed up with Hank, and suddenly we had a social. And we ate ice cream, including Hank who got the famous doggie sundae (vanilla ice cream with a doggie biscuit, but the nice lady put two biscuits in his dish that day). Then some of the more macha girls hit balls in the batting cages (note: Maria is deadly with a bat. Hire her for your softball team.) Then we headed over to the driving range and hit golf balls. Silliness abounded. Kelly and Amanda are true lesbians, because they can actually hit a golf ball. Far.

Anyhoo, happy belated official blog birthday to Jessica, July 9. She's 19.

If you happen to be bored...

This Thursday(the 22nd), my son, Brad, has a gig in Fairport. He plays in a band called Urban Steel. It's a steel drum band and they are pretty good. I know he would get a big kick if some of my goils showed up :-)

It's at the Fairport Gazebo(I'll try to get more specifics) from 7-8pm.

Pweeeeze (insert parental groveling here!)

Catching Up

Well, it has taken me long enough, but whatever, I don't wanna hear it. Here are the minutes of the May 22 ice cream social in Charlotte. There was no special reason for having the social, except that Julia was in town, so that's a good enough reason for me!

Well, it was the end of May, so of course it was freezing-ass cold outside. Julia was in town for a wedding gown fitting. Abbott's was officially opened. We all met up there:

seated l-r: Julia, Joy, Jane, Kelly, Brad, Cheryl. Standing: Hank, Heidi

We got our usual assortment of ice cream treats, except for Kelly, who was riding her motorcycle and didn't want to drive drunked up on custard. Very dangerous stuff, you know. But it did make her sad to see all of us eating, and she couldn't partake. She was practically in tears.

Cheryl brought her kids, and Heidi didn't have to yell at me even once for my potty mouth:

It was Hank's first social, and he had a blast. He spent most of the time licking the sidewalk. But I took pity on him, and shared my sundae with him:

I just find this picture adorable, and I have no witty comment to go with it:

Well, then of course the torrential rain started, and everyone scarpered, but Kelly had to wait for the rain to stop, since she was on her bike and doesn't have a monsoon suit. So we all said our quick goodbyes, then Julia, Kelly, Hank and I piled in Joy and Jane's van to wait out the deluge.

We were there for awhile, so naturally we got bored. What's a bunch of girls to do? Dress up the dog!

Ain't he an awesome dawg? Someone should write a country song about him.

And so, there ya have it. More ice cream silliness! Woo hoo!

Doggy sundaes

This past Sunday Kelly and I went to Bruster's, which is literally a 5 minute walk from her house and we got us some ice cream. Kelly had the Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, and I couldn't decide. But I saw the "Toasted Almond" one, and asked the girl if that was chocolate ice cream. She said yes.

So she brings me this vanilla ice cream with almonds in it. And I said, "I thought it was chocolate ice cream?" And she said "It i..." - then taking a second look, she scrunched up her eyes and said "I THOUGHT it was!" Big revelation to her! She was very nice about it, not like she was a moron or nothing. Believing there are no accidents, I dutifully accepted and ate the vanilla ice cream with almonds in it.

And Kelly kept looking at me and laughing. "Look at Leah eating Vanilla ice cream", she kept saying.

But the really cute thing was that we brought Hank, her dog, and we ordered him a doggy sundae, which is a small scoop of vanilla ice cream with a dog biscuit in it! Isn't that adorable? He sucked it up in about 2 minutes flat.

It's fixed!

A quick email to the blogger tech peeps resulted in them making a change to the settings of the blog...hence the archives are publishing properly now! They're now archived monthly, and they're all there.

Pinky, this may fix the problem you were having, too.

Also coming: that social we had last weekend... promise!

News from Indiana

(Note: This is from Pinky. I'm just posting it-Bitter)

Hi!

Went to "Little Mexico" (yes it is called that) located in Crawfordsville, Indiana and had a great dinner, for dessert we had Fried Ice Cream.

As pictured, it was topped with whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce and a cherry plopped on top....Fabulous! My mother Sue, sister Lori, friend Matt and my beau John were there. My beau did not partake due to lactose intolerance....
: 0 (

(ed note: ew.)

My mother had never heard of fried ice cream. For those of you that follow in her footsteps, here is the gist of it:

Fried Ice Cream:
vanilla ice cream
frosted flakes
*powdered sugar
*cinnamon
almond slivers
vegetable oil for frying

Heat the Vegetable Oil in a large pot. While the oil is heating, take the Frosted Flakes and put them into a Ziploc bag. Smash them until they are pea-size pieces. Pour the Frosted Flakes and almonds into a large bowl. Take the scoop of Ice Cream and drop it into the bowl. Roll the Ice Cream around in the cereal and nuts until it is well coated. Take the cereal covered Ice Cream ball and drop it into the hot oil for 30-45 sec. *Optional - Take the Ice Cream out of the Oil and dust with Cinnamon and Powdered Sugar. Serve immediately.

Had fun, wish you all were there!

Sundae, anyone?

Seems like Julia and Matt will be in town on Sunday, and I hear-tell there's this ice cream shop at Eastview Mall that is just like the Cold Stone Creamery. Anyone in?

Tuesday, May 11, 2004

Hey all!
Looks as though summer is finally here!!!

In honor of this, I walked into town this afternoon and got a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles. I asked for a medium, and the guy put so much ice cream on there, I didn't know what to do.

Naturally, I did the logical thing: devoured it maniacally.

Abbott's dissed me.

Abbott's is on my shit list. I had two coupons, completely different from each other, and the little pimply-faced bastard said I could only use one! He says it says so on the coupon. I said "It says one per customer" - which means I can only use one of this particular coupon. I have another coupon for something different. Then he said it says cannot be used with another offer and I said "which means that I can't give you more than one coupon for the SAME ITEM. He kept saying sorry ma'am, I can't. And I asked to speak with someone who understands logic. But there were only girls there and they seemed to be too wimpy to speak up because THE MAN was "handling it". I tried to talk to another girl and she looked at me like I was speaking Greek and just kept looking to the big boy....oooohhh!!!

So I bought the one item, paid the money, then said, hi, I'm here to purchase these items with this coupon. Just pretend I'm a totally different customer. Sorry ma'am, I can't. How 'bout if I give it to the person behind me, you'd sell it to him wouldn't ya? Sorry ma'am. STUPIDFUCKINGZITFACEDPUBESCENTDUMBASSMOTHERFUCKER!

I said, "Don't you understand that 50% of a sale is better than 100% of NO sale? Did your manager teach you that? Sorry ma'am. Your superior would ever know the difference. Sorry ma'am.

And it was the last day to use those coupons, otherwise I'd have gone to a different location or just gone back the next day. But now forget it.

I'm gonna write those bastards at Abbott's a letter, and suggest they teach their stupid moron high school employees about business, and what the damn fine print really means.

Yes Virginia, It Is Spring

Okay.. ice cream updates from me:

- On the Saturday of Easter weekend (I know.. I've been delinquent!), my family and I partook in some frozen custard from Fran & Ciel's in Blasdell, NY.
- On April 24th, I had homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream from Aldrich's at the Taste of Chautauqua event put on by the County Democratic Party in Jamestown
- I finished off my half-gallon of Edy's Girl Scout Cookie Thin Mint ice cream while watching the pre-ultimate episode of Friends on Thursday. Before you think I'm a glutton, there was only about 5 spoonfuls left (not scoops) in the container.
- I had my first ice cream cone of the season from Bruester's this past Saturday. Homemade banana ice cream is the best!

So the ice cream intake has increased. I've just been bad about documenting it!

The Big Apple Social

Well, this was truly an auspicious occasion. How often does one have the opportunity to go to what is probably the most amazing ice cream experience ever. I'm speaking of the Cold Stone Creamery, that amazing chain of ice cream franchises that does ice cream in the most debauched of ways. We're talking ice cream connoisseur-ness.

First, let me say the ice cream is absolutely delicious. Creamy and silky and loaded with artery-clogging fatty goodness. Then there's the whole aesthetic aspect. I went to the location in Times Square.

Outside is one of those crowd control lane-maker things, like they have in banks, because there's usually a huge line to get in. It wasn't bad this day though.

Well, this is one amazing experience. First you pick your ice cream flavor, then you look at the nine bazillion different extras you can add to it, and pick. For example, here is just a small section of extras - the candy:

They have a menu of pre-designed sundaes, but you can custom make your own. Lori and Shaun designed their own: Shaun had cake batter ice cream with sponge cake, cookie dough and caramel syrup. Lori had cake batter ice cream with peanut butter and cookie dough in it, in a chocolate-dipped, rainbow sprinkle waffle cone.

But I went with one of the pre-fabs, called "Chocolate Devotion". Chocolate ice cream with a brownie and chocolate chips...

then they add chocolate syrup.

They mix it all up and put it in a waffle cone. They have three sizes: Like it, love it,
gotta have it. I had the "love it" size.

Then I ate it!

(note the shiner...)

Then we hit the streets of Times Square, and I ran into Samuel L. Jackson. I tried to give him a taste of my sweet goodness, but he wasn't interested. He seemed a little stiff, if you ask me...

Now let me say this: The nearest Cold Stone Creamery is in the Carousel Mall in Syracuse. WE ARE GOING!!!

And now the cold stone facts:

Ice cream - 650 cal., 40g fat; brownie-180 cal., 6g fat; chocolate chips-130 cal., 7g fat; chocolate syrup-110 cal., 3g fat; waffle cone-160 cal., 4g fat.

Total calories and fat: 1230 cal./60g fat.

Cost of eating the best ice cream ever: PRICELESS!!!

Someone has to.

It may as well be ME!

Yesterday I was tooling along Empire Blvd when what did I see? Yes, Abbott's, open for bidness. And it was raining like a mofo that day, and it was cold and damp. Did that dampen my spirits for ice cream??? Say it with me now....NO!

And on another FABULOUS note:

Check out THIS! Joy went to Washington DC to see Etheridge, and they stopped at the space museum, and she brought me back freeze-dried ice cream space food! One is a neopolitan, the other is an ice cream sandwich. I'm saving them for the next social, at which time any brave soul is welcome to sample them with me!

The Official Minutes to the Vernal Exquinox/Heidi's Birthday Ice Cream Social of 2004.

Well, first I must apologize for this taking so long, but I needed to learn how to use my new camera as well as set up a new network place on my new hard drive, blah blah blah. But here we go.

First of all, we must first wish MARJIE in Michigan a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Her birthday was yesterday, the 24th. Here's a little message from the gang: We were thinking of you on Sunday at our social, but we didn't have your phone number! So Heidi has a little message for you.

Present at our first social of 2004: Mary Rose, her friend Jamie, Jessica, Amanda, Julia, Matt, Heidi, Cheryl, and Leah.

Celebrating: Spring, Heidi's birthday (March 22), Marjie's birthday (March 24), Cheryl's birthday (March 29). Can we say "Holy Aries, batman!"

Birthday girls

Mary Rose brought a friend from work, Jamie, who was awesome.

She fit right in, meaning she didn't think we were a bunch of depraved perverts, but that's only because we had to behave since Heidi was there. I managed not to drop the F-Bomb this time.

Julia and Matt were in town from Jamestown to visit family, and it's always nice to see them. They'll be a-gettin' married in July.

Most people ordered some food so we got to chat awhile. Mary Rose surprised us all with little gifts: Ice Cream Pendants! Here we all are holding them:

And a closeup for the visually challenged among us:

Along about 3:00 Julia, who is usually very quiet and observant, speaks. She looks right across the table at Jamie and says "Did you go to St. Charles for religion classes?" And Jamie looks right back at her and says "Yes! I thought you looked familiar!!" And I said "Have you two each spent the last hour thinking you know each other?" Well, whaddya know, they did indeed go to religion classes together, waaaaay back when. Small world! But wait until you hear exactly HOW small the world is.

Julia happens to mention her last name, and big ol' lesbo Amanda says "Wait! Are you related to Chris?" And Julia says "That's my cousin." And Amanda says "I DATED CHRIS!!!" And Chris being such an androgynous name, I ask is Chris a male or female. Turns out a male! Woo hoo! How long ago was that, when Amanda dated a boy, and it happens to be Julia's kin!! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Am I the only one finding the humor and irony in this? So our motto is now "Bringing people together, one ice cream social at a time."

Jessica and Amanda

So everyone is done eating and our ice cream is coming, and we decide to call Maria, our goddess, since she had to work. Her phone rings, she picks up, and the first words out of her mouth were "You guys love me!" and she was getting all weepy because we all called her to say we missed her. AWWW!

So Heidi gets a few presents, and then proceeds to draw a portrait of everyone at the table. She worked on it for more than an hour, because as you all know, you cannot rush the creative process. Then she presented it to me, and I now present it to you. Look at the near-perfect representations of each of us. She drew each of us in the order we were seated at the table.

l. to r.: Leah (with blond highlights), Mary Rose (with spiky hair), Jamie (the flaming red-head), Jessica (with bandana), Amanda (with bb cap and glasses), Julia (blondie), Matt (with his curly 'fro and glasses), Heidi (she made her head smaller since she's little), and Cheryl (with her big hair).

We passed it around the table and Matt tried to buy it from her for a lousy buck. Ain't that the way, artists never being paid their worth? But I said, hey buddy, it says "To Leah" on that print and it's gonna cost you 10 grand! I should be an agent. Or an extortionist. Or is that the same thing?

But I digress. We finally finish and we pay our bill; EIGHTY BUCKOS!!! Yeah, baby. Then we finish our outing the way we usually finish them, by finding the nearest "adult novelty" store and browsing around, since we never lose sight of our mission statement. (See "about", above.) Of course, Cheryl did have to go home and drop off her little package first. We couldn't very well bring a seven-year old there now, could we?

As always, what happens in those stores stays there, so we'll not discuss it. But we will say the dude that worked there was totally creepy. He proofed us all, for one. Then later, when Cheryl and I were alone in an aisle and the rest of the folks were in a totally different part of the store, he makes it a point to come up to Cheryl and look at her in this creepy way and say, "Do you need any help finding anything?", completely ignoring my presence and not caring if I needed help. I think he really likes you, Cheryl!

And not that this is relevant to the story, but may I just say he happened to be a black man who was wearing an enormous Star of David necklace. The last Jewish black man I knew of was Sammy Davis, Jr. I'm pretty sure his Rabbi would disapprove of his career choice...

I think that about sums up our little event. I know this was a boring accounting compared to my usual posts, but I hope you will all forgive me. I'm a little overwhelmed with too much crap to do, and it's almost 2:00 in the morning.

Happy Birthday to all our Aries babies, and thank you again for the pendants, Mary Rose! Thanks, too, to Jamie for hanging with us. I hope I spelled your name right.

Road Trip? Anyone? Anyone?

I was channel surfing last night and came across a program on The Travel Channel about the best ice cream spots around the U.S. It included everything from Ben & Jerry's in Waterbury, VT to Mister Softie. The only link I could find for this program was for a different program that outlines the Best American Ice Cream Parlors. Incidentally, if you like B&J and have never been to Waterbury (not too far from Burlington, VT), I highly recommend it. A yummy time!

Six Scoops of Separation

Quick ice cream social related note before Leah posts. I asked my dad about Chris and it turns out that Amanda did date my cousin afterall. Isn't it a funny world?

Saturday, March 20, 2004

Okay, it's official

Sunday, March 21, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. We're having an Equinox Ice Cream Social. Even though there are piles of snow outside. It's purely symbolic, you know.

We're meeting at Friendly's at 3081 Ridge Road W. Here's a map.

Cheryl will be bringing her daughter, Heidi, who turns 7 on Monday, so we'll have a little birthday celebration for her. We'll sing and everything. And I PROMISE I'll watch my language.

See you then. Bring friends! Everyone is welcome!

SUNDAY'S SUNDAES

Hi Everyone!

Forgive the delay in working this all out. My computer OS completely crashed and I've spent two days installing a new hard drive, a new OS, and retrieving all my old files. That, and dealing with NYS sales tax. But that's all TMI.

Yes, we're having a social on Sunday. What time? Julia will be in town from Jamestown, so we should work around her schedule. I'll send an e-mail out to everyone and we can figure it all out. I haven't been able to find an old fashioned ice cream joint, so let's pick a Friendly's, since it IS the favorite of at least two members.

Let's eat!

It's been a long time...

I don't have an excuse for not posting in so long, so I won't make one up.

Maria and I went to Friendly's last night to do some long overdue catching up. Among other interesting things I found out that there is a strip club in Canada where you can pay $1 and go up and lay on stage and the strippers will lift up your shirt and lick your boobs. Who knew? My ICF has been out of control- anyone wanna go to Canada with me??

I had a coffee milkshake with my dinner, but Maria said that didn't count as ice cream so I ordered a Cyclone or something with vanilla soft serve, strawberries and fresh bananas. YUM!!! I wasn't feeling that well so I think it was a good choice. What I didn't finish I took to my mom and she ate it. I'm the official diet-breaker for her. :) Meanwhile, Maria ordered an Orange Creme drink thingie. After telling me that my milkshake didn't count. Hmpf.

Our waitress was the same one we had that night when we went after one of Leah's shows when BJ and Cheryl and Maria and Jess and Lynn (however she spells it) and Leah and myself went. She was very nice but she was kept coming back every two seconds to see if I had decided on what to eat. I hereby decree her our official Friendly's on Monroe Ave waitress.

In other ice cream news, I bought some Klondike Big Bear cones that were on clearance. I'm a sucker for anything on clearance. Apparently they aren't going to carry the brand anymore at my Tops. Which is fine by me because I prefer Drumsticks. But a bargain is a bargain.

I basically wound up coming out to everyone at work recently after a discussion and a viewing of this lovely website. Now not only do they know I'm a lesbian, they know I have a gay porn fetish and that I haven't had sex in almost 4 years. On the upside, one of them did buy me some ice cream stickers for my computer and my purse. They would have found out I was a freak eventually...

Anyhow, is there going to be a Spring social this coming weekend?? I miss y'all and it'd be a lot of fun to see you. It looks like it might be getting warmer for the weekend....

Time to go wash the dye out of my hair. I will try to be better about blogging. Let me know if there is any penance or anything I should be doing, O Bitter One.

Ice Cream Concert tonight!

I'm playing Cornell U. tonight, and they are serving refreshments. The refreshments in question are several flavors of ice cream made right there in Ithaca by the local dairy company. Woo hoo!!!

Gonna close the first set with Tasted Like Ice Cream!

Yummyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

Did I say Solstice???

Not even our resident Astrologer noticed my mistake! The Vernal Equinox marks the advent of Spring, but the point remains: We should eat ice cream in honor of it.

The Vernal Equinox actually begins on March 19. But I think we should have our event on Sunday, March 21, because some people work on Saturday, and besides, I'm trying to get Mary Simon to come in for it. Who knows if she can make it.

So, check your calendars and let me know what's good!

OK- So you are all dying to know!

I had an amazing b-day! YAY! I don't have fancy pics, but let me tell you it was fabulous. First I went to yoga where the teacher, Peter, had the whole class sing me a bday mantra (a new age way to say, sang me happy bday! LOL!). Then I went to eat Indian food with my friends and had a mango lassi (crushed up mangos and yogurt). I did two massages and made some cashy ola lola, which is always fab-- came home to a clean house and had a great party. There was much celebrating and love coming my way and I must say I was quite on with the psychic bit that night. I think because everyone is thinking good thoughts about you on that day your capacities are heightened. (I sound so freaking Boulder! Hippie Dippy! I better get outta here quick!) Hittin' everyone's nails on their heads. Anyway- I had a beautiful cake-- chocolate of course! and then my new fav Hagan Dasz vanilla ice cream. ROCK ON! I got lots of awesome presents including a beautiful necklace, bath salts, classic fiction books (virginia woolf and the like), and poetry. I got a full psychological astrology report by Liz Greene, the jungian astrologer, who we love, and it was awesome. So, that's it- not the most exciting ice cream experience but it is now officially blogged. Thanks for caring guys! love ya!

You're all going to ice cream hell!

Is there such a thing? Seems like it would be heaven. But I have read in other blogs (no names...) that someone had an ice cream treat, or some ice cream-related thing happened, and do I see posts here? Nope. Two days after Lisa's birthday, but do we know if she glommed some rocky road? But that's okay, because I, your benevolent leader, will forgive all.

And I guess I'll have to take matters into my own hands, because our own exotic Mary Rose got this FABULOUS necklace for Christmas, and do we know about it? Already it's February. So we now have a photo of this FABULOUS necklace for your visual enjoyment:

And on Saturday some of us took a little trip to the Canaseraga Coffeehouse where we heard Patti Witten sing, and Maria, ever the ice cream enthusiast, had a milkshake! Vanilla, of course.

Here she is diving for the cherry! Who says milkshakes ain't sexy?

I think we should have a Solstice Social, March 20. Whaddya all think?

A very happy belated birthday...

...to Lisa!!! The ice-creamers (especially our fearless leader, Leah, who is in Canada at the moment) all hope ya had a great birthday yesterday!

Did you eat lots of ice cream?!

Super Bowl Sundae

A spur of the moment decision while in Tops stocking up on soda and beer for the Super Bowl led to the first instance of ice cream sundaes during a Super Bowl for me. I had made brownies to take over to Matt's parent's house for the game. I haven't made brownies in more than a few years, so they came out very fudgy. Not a bad thing, but I like my brownies to be a little less mushy AKA a little more baked. To hide the fact that my brownies were less than perfect I decided that some vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup would hide the problem areas just fine. I'm not much of a brownie sundae girl, but these were pretty damn good! The beer helped too. I'm still not over Janet's boob just popping out when Justin yanked off her costume. I thought it was funny. Apparently a good many people in this country didn't!

I got this really big envelope in the mail today from a phone company called Working Assets. They want me to switch to them for my long distance provider. Get this, the insentive is not a check for $80 (which I got once) not a trip to Florida nor free long distance for a month but BEN AND JERRYS ICE CREAM FREE FOR A YEAR!!!!!!! Well, a pint a month...made me think about it.

Sorry I won't be at the song circle tonight. I have Bronchitis and a sinus infection AND I have to be at work on Friday at 6am! Have an awesome Birthday and have a beer for me :-)

What Better To Eat When You're Sick?

While I've somehow managed to avoid getting the flu (so far) from Matt, my sinuses went into overdrive this week and I was forced to stay home yesterday. Well, the weather sucked too but that's another story. So what better way to soothe a sore throat than to consume several Wegman's ice cream sandwiches? Yes. I said several. And for some reason, the freezer above our refrigerator isn't exactly keeping things at crispy cool frozen states, so the ice cream between the chocolate wafers was a bit mushy. Still quite tasty. I debated shoving the box into a snow drift outside the side door since it's apparently colder outside than in my freezer! Anything to keep my ice cream from going into sludge mode.

Again, this is a mini-pseudo social.

Two days ago, my mother made both me and herself a true creme de minthe parfait, which means the actual alcohol and vanilla ice cream.

Then I went downstairs to my computer, looked at photos, and cranked it.

But thats another story....
This was probably already mentioned in the past...
...and probably by me...

But in that case, it's worth talking about again.

I got to have ORANGE CREAMSICLE flavored flouride at the dentist today. I've never been happier at the dentist's office. It was delicious...
